The CS Residence is a contemporary tropical family home designed for a four-member household in Valenzuela City. Conceived as a permanent residence, the project responds to the family's need for comfortable everyday living while maximizing the potential of its compact urban lot. The design integrates essential residential spaces—including generous living and dining areas, a functional kitchen, service spaces, family entertainment areas, private bedrooms, and a roof deck—into a cohesive vertical arrangement that promotes both efficiency and comfort.
Architecturally, the residence is defined by a strong geometric composition of exposed frames, clean horizontal and vertical lines, and warm wood-inspired screening elements. The façade balances openness and privacy through the use of vertical slatted panels that filter sunlight, enhance natural ventilation, and create a dynamic play of light and shadow throughout the day. These features provide a distinctive visual identity while responding to the tropical climate.
The three-storey massing emphasizes verticality while maintaining a refined and approachable scale within the residential neighborhood. Layered volumes, recessed balconies, and deep overhangs help reduce heat gain while creating sheltered outdoor spaces for the family. A roof deck crowns the structure, providing an elevated retreat for relaxation, gatherings, and views of the surrounding community.
Inside, the planning prioritizes seamless movement between public, semi-private, and private zones. Large openings and strategically placed windows encourage cross-ventilation and daylight penetration, reducing dependence on artificial lighting during the day. The result is a bright, airy living environment that supports contemporary family life while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoors.
The CS Residence reflects KDA Design + Architecture’s approach to residential design—creating homes that are functional, climate-responsive, and visually timeless. Through its thoughtful spatial organization, modern tropical character, and careful attention to the needs of its occupants, the project delivers a residence that is both practical and architecturally expressive.
