SC Apartment

The SC Apartment is a conceptual exploration of compact, high-density urban living, demonstrating how a limited site can be transformed into a functional and contemporary residential development. The proposal consists of four apartment units, each designed with a private mezzanine to maximize usable floor area while maintaining an efficient building footprint. A shared roof deck crowns the development, providing residents with a communal outdoor space for relaxation and recreation.

The architectural design embraces a clean, modern aesthetic characterized by simple geometric forms, exposed concrete elements, and a restrained material palette. A vertically articulated façade serves as both a defining architectural feature and an environmental screen, supporting climbing vegetation that softens the building's appearance while contributing shade and natural cooling. Balconies, carefully positioned openings, and an open circulation core promote natural daylight and cross ventilation, creating bright, comfortable living spaces suited to the tropical climate.

Each apartment is envisioned as a loft-inspired home where the mezzanine provides a clear separation between private and shared living areas without increasing the building's footprint. The flexible layouts are intended to accommodate young professionals, couples, and small families seeking efficient, contemporary urban residences. The communal roof deck extends the living experience beyond the individual units, encouraging interaction among residents while offering an elevated space for leisure and gatherings.

Although the project remained at the conceptual design stage, the SC Apartment reflects KDA Design + Architecture's commitment to creating innovative residential solutions that maximize land value, spatial efficiency, and architectural character. The proposal demonstrates how thoughtful planning and vertical design strategies can produce comfortable, functional, and visually distinctive homes within compact urban environments.
