Every year, on the last Monday of August, we pause to honor the men and women who helped shape the Philippines through courage, sacrifice, conviction, and action.

This year, National Heroes Day falls on August 31, 2026.

For many of us, the day brings to mind familiar names—Rizal, Bonifacio, Mabini, and many others whose stories are part of our national identity. But National Heroes Day is also a reminder that history was not shaped by extraordinary people waiting for the perfect moment. It was shaped by people who saw something wrong, imagined something better, and decided to do something about it.
