Every August 21, the nation pauses to remember Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., whose sacrifice became a turning point in Philippine history. More than just a date on the calendar, Ninoy Aquino Day is a reminder of courage, conviction, and the enduring pursuit of democracy.

What many may not realize is that Ninoy’s story is also tied to a home—a quiet residence along 25 Times Street in West Triangle, Quezon City. For years, this was the Aquino family’s private space, where moments of both hope and heartbreak unfolded. After Ninoy’s assassination in 1983, it became a place of mourning and solidarity, where fellow Filipinos came to pay their respects and draw strength.
As an architect, I can’t help but see the connection between people and the spaces they inhabit. Houses are not just built of walls and roofs—they hold memories, values, and legacies. The Aquino home on Times Street is a powerful reminder that architecture can be more than a structure; it can be a vessel of history.
Today, that house continues to stand as a quiet landmark, echoing the resilience of a family and a nation that chose to keep moving forward despite grief. It reminds us that the spaces we create and inhabit will always be shaped by the stories we live in them.
As we commemorate Ninoy Aquino Day, may we not only look back on the courage he showed but also reflect on how our own homes, communities, and built environments can embody purpose, resilience, and hope for the future.
At KDA Design + Architecture, we believe that design is not just about building for today—it’s about creating spaces that hold meaning, inspire people, and stand as silent witnesses to history. Because every home, like that one on 25 Times Street, has the power to tell a story.
Built with vision. Designed with purpose.
